You know how to breathe, of course.

But do you know how you’re breathing?

We tend to take our breathing for granted, as most of the time, it doesn’t require much attention or effort.

Until, it does.

When we spend a lot of time sitting and less time moving, our capacity for breath diminishes. This can become a slippery slope, affecting nervous activity, mood, cognitive ability and athletic performance.

On Saturday, July 13, from 1-2:30 p.m., join me at Conquer Fitness for The Science of Breathing. During this session, you will learn:

  • The anatomy of the lungs and surrounding musculature.
  • How to release diaphragmatic tension to enable easier breathing.
  • The concept of three-dimensional respiration and how it can help to improve lung capacity and pelvic floor health.
  • Techniques to down-regulate nervous activity, reducing stress.
  • Why nasal-only breathing is vital to well-being.

This is an all-levels workshop, open to all ages and abilities. Activewear is recommended, please bring clean running shoes, as we will be making use of the indoor track for walking and (optional) running. A light snack beforehand is recommended – some exercises may be uncomfortable if your stomach is too full. The yoga room will be fully ventilated with a running air purifier.
